Sapele
Sapele has been described by some as the "cream of African Mahogany". Although part of the same family and of similar colour - medium to dark reddish brown - it is actually much harder. In the tree, branching tends to occur above 80' which produces timber with a very straight grain. In its natural state it can be planed and varnished to bring out its natural beauty and colouring, although many of our customers choose a painted finish on their Sapele products.
This hardwood has been gaining in popularity over recent years as its versatility lends itself to so many uses. We use it extensively to manufacture external joinery, windows, doors and gates when a hardwood is requested with a painted finish.
